Garlic (Allium sativum) for all seasons and ailments

Garlic has been used for at least 5000 year years to treat diseases caused by bacteria, viruses and other microorganisms. Both Russian and British doctors used garlic poultices topically and internally during WW1 to treat bacterial wound infections and successfully prevent gangrene.4, 5

It also binds heavy metals and protects against ionizing radiation and boosts liver function.

Scientific research shows for instance that garlic is especially effective against some influenza viruses. In traditional Oriental  and Chinese Medicine garlic ( as soup) has been used  to  treat pneumonia, garlic extract or juice  to treat typhoid and meningitis; whooping  cough garlic vapors to treat whooping cough .4

During 1950th scientists in China successfully used two different kinds of garlic treatment against influenza virus. The first treatment consisted of intramuscular injections of combinations using garlic. The same decoction was used in the form of nasal drops to prevent influenza.4
