The Pandemic Impact  on Resilience

Building resilience is pivotal to cope with the ongoing stress of pandemics. Psychobiological resilience can be defined as the adaptive maintenance of physiological and mental health in the face of stress and adversity. Prolonged stress has an impact on your thyroid, adrenals, reproductive system, suppresses immunity and nervous system. There is a rise in depression, anxiety, emotional distress, and insomnia.

The initial coping stage  body’s response to stress is:

anxiety, irritability, panic attacks

Weight gain, insulin resistance,  hormonal issues

Skin complaints (easy bruising, skin thinning, slow would healing, acne

Muscle weakness, weak connective tissue, decreased  body density

Depression, cognitive dysfunction, poor memory

Higher blood pressure

Headaches, frequent urination, visual problems

Insomnia

As the stress continues, the body’s response is moving into the underactive – chronic maladaptive response. Then the following symptoms will   develop:

Extreme fatigue

Aches and pain ( esp. morning)

Chronic inflammation

Auto-immunity

Dark circles under eyes

Poor thyroid function

Hormonal disturbances

Poor memory/cognitive impairment

Emotionally blunted/depressed

Low blood pressure

Sleep disturbance ( want to  sleep all the time)

Craving for salty foods

It is important to recognize the early signs of distress and do something about it like make some changes in your life,  see a naturopath, a counselor, a healer, or a psychologist.

6. Minimise exposure to EMF
7. Talk to a trusted friend
8. Stay grounded and hydrated
9. Get a pet
10. Find a hobby
11. Join a local community group of likeminded people
12. If you cannot find a Group you resonate with, create one

13. Avoid and deal with bullies and psychopaths*

*David Gillespie has written books ” Taming  Toxic People”  and “Brain Reset” where he described psychopaths. They are people who lack completely empathy, act against the best interest of the community,  and only care about themselves. In summary, their trails are: charming, self-obsessed, fluent liar, emotionally manipulative, completely lacking in remorse or guilt,  emotional shallowness and callousness, no responsibilities for their actions, impulsive, parasitic, fearless, highly controlling, vindictive, aggressive, and intimidating.

David also states that the are a lot of psychopaths out there: male and female. If your partner,  boss, parent, neighbour, child or someone in your local voluntary community group is a psychopath, you are likely experiencing a lot of stress.
