Since high school biology lessons in Poland, I remember learning about the Germ Theory of Louis Pasteur and Robert Koch – the idea that bacteria and viruses cause disease and are passed from person to person like tiny invisible enemies. But I also learned about Terrain Theory, proposed by Antoine Béchamp, which painted a completely different picture of health and disease.
Over the years, I’ve kept an open mind, especially after many years of observing live blood through dark field microscopy in my clinic. I’ve also watched how some of my patients get sick, and others don’t – even when they are in the same environment. Could there be more to the story than just “catching” something?
Let’s take a closer look at both theories – and how shifting your perspective may completely redefine how you think about your health and the health of your family.
What Is Germ Theory?
Germ theory suggests that we “catch” infections from others – like viruses, bacteria, and fungi – and that’s what makes us sick. According to this theory, being around someone with the flu or a cold means you’ll likely “get it” too.
But did you know that during the 1918 Spanish Flu pandemic, researchers tried multiple times to prove this theory – and failed? They took saliva, mucus, and other bodily fluids from very sick patients and deliberately tried to infect healthy people. They even had healthy volunteers breathe in the exhaled breath of the sick. Yet those healthy individuals did not get sick.
Even Robert Koch, one of the main founders of Germ Theory, couldn’t always prove that a specific germ causes a specific disease.
So… what if it doesn’t work the way we’ve been told?
“But Everyone Got Sick at Work or at Home!”
You might be thinking, “But when someone at work or in my family gets the flu, everyone else gets it too – surely that proves it’s contagious!”
Actually, this may not be the full story. What if everyone in the house was exposed to the same stress, the same toxin, the same radiation, or even the same emotional or environmental burden – and they all responded in similar ways?
What Is Terrain Theory?
Terrain theory offers a completely different view.
It suggests that disease doesn’t come from the outside – it comes from within. It tells us that the terrain – meaning the internal condition of your body – determines whether you get sick or stay well.
According to Béchamp and many natural medicine practitioners today, symptoms like cough, fever, fatigue, or mucus production are not enemies to fight – but signs that your body is cleansing itself.
In other words, the body is always working hard to maintain balance, or what we call homeostasis. When there are too many toxins building up – whether from outside the body or from within – the body needs to clean house. The flu, a cold, or a “virus” might simply be a sign that your system is detoxifying.
Where Do Toxins Come From?
There are two main types of toxins:
1. Exogenous (from the environment):
These include:
Polluted air
Chemicals in food (pesticides, herbicides)
Heavy metals
Mold spores
EMF radiation (from Wi-Fi, phones, cell towers, 5G, satellites, dirty electricity)
Nanoplastics, microplastic, PFAS, chemtrails and chemical additives
Contaminated water or sewage
New technologies and environmental shifts (like radar, smart meters, solar storms)
2. Endogenous (produced inside the body):
These come from:
Metabolic waste (urea, ammonia, acids)
Inflammation
A sluggish liver, kidneys, skin, lungs, or gut that can’t eliminate toxins efficiently
The Proof Is in the Patterns
Arthur Firstenberg, in his well-researched book The Invisible Rainbow, makes a compelling case that influenza may not be a viral disease at all – but an electrical one. He tracked flu outbreaks across history and found that major flu pandemics occurred right after new electrical technologies were introduced.
For example:
The rollout of electricity in the early 1900s
The introduction of radar during WWII
The rise of satellites and wireless communication and now, 5G and smart devices everywhere
Even more interesting – Canadian astronomer Ken Tapping and two physicians from British Columbia discovered that influenza pandemics tend to peak during times of high solar activity. The sun follows an 11-year cycle, and during its magnetic peak, flu-like symptoms rise globally.
Right now, the Sun is experiencing another peak – which might explain why so many people feel sick, tired, foggy, or flu-like without any obvious “virus” to blame.
So… What’s the Solution?
The answer is simple – Fix your terrain.
We may not be able to stop solar storms or technological shifts, but we can support our body’s natural ability to heal, detoxify, and protect itself.
Here’s how:
Eat organic fruits and vegetables: Packed with antioxidants to fight free radicals
Drink clean, filtered water: Hydration supports kidney and liver detox
Avoid processed and chemical-laden foods
Minimize EMF exposure: Turn off Wi-Fi at night, avoid Bluetooth earbuds, and reduce screen time
Spend time in nature: Forests, ocean air, sunshine, and grounding to the Earth help recharge your body
Support detox pathways: With herbal support, sweating (saunas or exercise), deep breathing, and regular bowel movements
Final Thoughts
If we want to stay well – or truly understand why we get sick – we must look deeper than the idea of “catching a cold.” Maybe it’s time to stop blaming invisible enemies and start listening to the wisdom of the body.
Let’s strengthen our terrain, honour our natural rhythms, and remember that symptoms can be signals, not enemies.
Stay empowered and stay curious.
