Reiki

Reiki is  the Japanese for Universal Life Force Energy. Reiki is a method of natural  healing that uses that energy channeled through a reiki practitioner’s  hands to restore health and well-being. Reiki does not directly intervene  in the body, but rather solely stimulate it to restore its natural functions.  Reiki solely stimulate the body’s own life support and it does not directly  affect the metabolism or the psyche. For this reason, particularly in  chronic cases or extensive illness a patient has to be provided with  a nutritional and herbal support to stimulate and promote the direction  of cure.

A Reiki  treatment looks similar to massage, except that patient is fully dressed  in comfortable clothing; and the practitioner’s hands on the client  are usually still, and move when the practitioner notices shifts in  the flow of channeled energy. Reiki is not a ‘faith healing’.  No faith in the effectiveness is needed on the part of Reiki practitioner  or the client.

The  principles of Reiki

Just  for today I will live the attitude of gratitude
Just  for today I will not worry
Just  for today I will not anger
Just  for today I will do my work honestly
Just  for today I will show love and respect for every living thing

History  of Reiki

Reiki was rediscovered in 1914 by Dr Mikao Usui, who was the Dean of  a small Christian University in Kyoto, Japan. He studied and translated  scrolls written in Sanskrit to determine how the ancient healed by channelling  energy through their hands.

The first  healing with Reiki by Dr Usui begann in the Beggars Quarters of Kyoto.  At this time, Dr Usui created the Five Principles of Reiki.
